Only One Actor Can Beat Cillian Murphy at Oscars and It’s Not Bradley Cooper
The Oscars are right around the corner, and the race to win it is in full swing. For every category, there is some tough competition, and fans are waiting with bated breath to find out if their favorite will get to win the categories they are nominated in. One such category is for Best Actor, and so far, one actor is ahead in the race to win it. It is none other than Irishman Cillian Murphy, who has been nominated for his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the Christopher Nolan biopic, Oppenheimer.
Murphy has so far won the category at the Golden Globes, BAFTA, and recently, at the SAG Awards. But there is one other actor who is also in the race. And it is not Bradley Cooper as many might expect – who gave a phenomenal performance in Maestro. But the actor who has a chance to beat Murphy in the race to win the Oscars this year is Paul Giamatti for his performance in The Holdovers.
Cillian Murphy Might Get Beaten In The Oscars Race
After his performance in Oppenheimer, the name Cillian Murphy is on everyone’s lips. Though the Irish actor has been a part of the industry for decades and has given many awe-inspiring performances over the years, the Christopher Nolan biopic managed to give him the name and fame he was, in some ways, missing. He is a favorite this season, among critics as well as audiences, to win the Oscars in the Best Actor category. But he still has some competition to look forward to.
Paul Giamatti, an industry veteran, is another actor who might just win it at the last moment and leave Murphy’s Oscar dream unrealized. Giamatti’s performance in The Holdovers was amazing, and he won the Best Actor award at the Critics Choice Awards as well as the Golden Globes for the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical category.
In the same event, Murphy won the Best Actor in a Drama category Golden Globes. So the competition is pretty neck-to-neck. And though the Irish actor is a step ahead after his win at the BAFTAs, as well as the SAG Awards, one never knows for sure what might happen at the Oscars.
Bradley Cooper’s Oscar Dream Might Remain Unrealized
Bradley Cooper is no doubt one of the best actors of this generation. He has given many amazing performances in his career, and his directing debut with A Star is Born was also worthy of praise. He again took on acting and directing duties for his latest project, Maestro, where he played the role of Leonard Bernstein – a real-life legend in the world of music. And though he has been nominated for his work in the acting category for the Oscars this season, Cooper’s dream of holding the golden statue might remain unrealized.
After Cillian Murphy’s once-in-a-lifetime performance in Oppenheimer, it is no surprise that the 47-year-old has been winning praise as well as awards this season at almost every event. Recently, on Saturday night, Murphy took home another award in the Best Actor category at the SAG Awards. And if the look on Bradley Cooper’s face is anything to go by, it seems like the actor is slowly losing hope of winning the Golden Statue this season.
Oppenheimer is available on Amazon Prime.
