The Hindu epic, ‘The Ramayana’ tells the story of Rama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, who was born to the world to destroy evil. The epic is meant to teach the concept of Dharma (duty) through Rama’s actions. It is written in Sanskrit as poetry, comprising lines called shlokas by Valmiki who was credited to have invented the style. The words and messages are inspirational, teaching values to mankind.
