HYDERABAD: The rapidly growing Indian civil aviation market will need 2,840 new aircraft, 41,000 pilots and 47,000 technicians over the next 20 years, French aerospace giant Airbus said in its forecast on Thursday.
Remi Maillard, president and managing director, Airbus India and South Asia, said “India is a force that will power global civil aviation over the next few decades.” He added that 2023 was a record year for Airbus in India with 750 orders coming in and 75 deliveries being made to Indian carriers.
He also pointed out that not only will India remain the fastest growing economy in the world with a 6.2% growth rate per annum but will also be the fastest growing aviation market in the world with an investment of nearly $12 billion set to be poured into ramping up airport infrastructure, including building new ones and revamping the existing ones. India has set a target to hit 200 airports by 2030 from the existing 149.
