Call of Duty Servers May Be Down, Levels Are Reset, but Fans Are Loving One Thing About Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Right Now
The Call of Duty franchise is not in the best place right now, as after a horrendous single-player campaign launch, Modern Warfare 3 is also facing numerous issues with its multiplayer mode. The rough patch doesn’t seem to be ending because the online servers are extremely problematic at the moment, which is even affecting Warzone.
However, there’s a silver lining to this dark cloud, as there is one specific feature that fans don’t really want Sledgehammer Games to fix.
Because of its current absence and even with the servers at their worst, players are actually enjoying the online multiplayer mode of CoD: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone more than ever.
Call of Duty Fans Really Do Not Seem to Like SBMM in Modern Warfare 3
The unfortunate news about Call of Duty servers being broken at the moment was shared by CharlieIntel on X, who stated that the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer mode and Warzone are not functioning as they should. But one thing that stood out the most was the fact that “SBMM is also not working properly,” which is finally causing online matchmaking to be a lot “more relaxed and easier right now.”
For those not familiar with the term, SBMM stands for skill-based matchmaking, which is a feature that MW3‘s multiplayer heavily incorporates into its online mode, and it basically ensures that each player has a balanced experience while playing the game.
This often makes it really difficult for pro Call of Duty players to find matches that are worthy of their skill data, and noobs end up having an amazing time because of very little challenge. The update on X saw an influx of the Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone player bases, as the majority seemed to agree on one thing: “don’t fix SBMM fix everything else.”
A fan noted how it would not be the absolute worst thing if SBMM stayed broken, as it is already quite a controversial feature plaguing the first-person shooter franchise.
Players Are Ecstatic About the SBMM Being Broken
According to CharlieIntel, there still have not been any updates from either Sledgehammer Games or Activision regarding the broken servers being fixed, but once they finally do, “player progression will restore.” However, fans are absolutely ecstatic with the whole SBMM situation, with one player stating that it could actually be “a secret test,” so the Call of Duty community should unite and “be nothing but hugely positive on the socials for this period.”
Maybe the developers will see just how much most of the fanbase loathes SBMM and listen to it for future decisions.
Another fan summed up the discussion by saying that it would be fine if Sledgehammer did not even “fix the servers” if it meant no SBMM.
