Hugh Jackman is pumped to play Wolverine… literally. True, the X-Men movie alum originally thought he had portrayed the character for the last time in director James Mangold’s 2017 film Logan. But friends Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy ultimately lured Jackman back to play the Adamantium-clawed mutant in Deadpool 3. And Jackman is a man who can’t take a day off when keeping himself at peak level to inhabit his iconic role once again. Jackman has portrayed Wolverine in a total of nine films. And at the conclusion of Deadpool 2, Jackman does appear in that awesome flashback to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, while Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is time traveling. In that footage, Wade and Logan (Jackman) prepare to face off, but then Future Deadpool arrives and mercilessly kills the inferior version of himself in the past.

Hugh Jackman Returns for Deadpool 3
While Logan (Hugh Jackman) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) have faced off before in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool 3 will mark both of the characters’ first appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And photos have already been revealed that confirm Wolverine and Deadpool will wear comic book-accurate costumes in director Shawn Levy’s upcoming superhero sequel.
Previously, Jackman came out of the actors’ strike and jumped straight on social media to post a video of himself getting ripped to continue playing Wolverine. Trainer Beth Lewis has been working closely with Jackman, and she couldn’t be more proud of his efforts to get in superhero-worthy shape. Lewis reposted Jackman’s Instagram post @bethlewisfit, and she commented at the time:
