It is no surprise that Elden Ring remains a huge commercial success for its developing studio, FromSoftware. The video game title which came out in 2022 manages to deliver its players a state-of-the-art experience, and now there is a slight chance that the studio might expand that experience to those who like sticking to smaller devices.
What we are talking about here is the possibility of Elden Ring being ported to smartphones as a video game one can get on their respective mobile platforms. This comes through VIA Reuters stating how Tencent Games, one of the largest mobile games developers, might be working on an Elden Ring version to play on smartphones.
For those who might not know, Tencent Games is also responsible for developing other major successful mobile games taken from already existing video game franchises. Examples include the likes of PUBG: Mobile as well as Call Of Duty Mobile.
Is Tencent Bringing An Elden Ring Port To Smartphones?
According to the aforementioned article, Tencent Games is looking forward to bringing something new to its stock of mobile games. This includes working on adapting FromSoftware’s Elden Ring title to a free-to-play role-playing survival game that competes with their biggest competitor, Genshin Impact.
What increases the likelihood of a port happening is the fact that Tencent holds nearly 16% of FromSoftware, which adds up the chances of a smartphone adaptation of Elden Ring happening significantly. The licensing rights for the game had also been bought out already back in 2022, and a team of developers was reportedly assigned to develop the game right away.
As mentioned before, the developer will be looking forward to making the game free-to-play, with microtransactions within the gameplay amounting to how much they are going to make off from the title.
Will Elden Ring‘s Mobile Adaptation Include Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC?
The studio would likely be looking forward to bringing Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC to mobile as well. This is because the DLC has got the whole gaming community hyped up once again as we come closer to its release every single day.
Not much is revealed about Shadow of the Erdtree yet, except how it will possibly change how we look at Elden Ring’s storyline forever. It is rumored that the DLC will revolve around the character of Miquella to begin with, as hinted by the key art that was released alongside the announcement.
The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is speculated to release in Late February, near the game’s second-anniversary. Bearing in mind how it is lining up with the development of the alleged mobile port, it is once again highly likely that we get to see it released alongside the original game on app stores.
