If you’re searching for the best laptops in 2022, you’ve come to the correct spot. The finest laptop “ranked list” in 2022. I have a collection of the greatest laptops.
You’ll find everything from the best business-class laptops to ultra-stylish ultraportables, gaming laptops, and 2-in-1 hybrids. In short, there is always one for you. If you’re really not sure what to buy, this article will point you in the right direction. Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows has me completely enthralled and is an essential iPhone game
1. Apple M2 MacBook Air: The best laptop overall
I love the M1 MacBook Air, but the second-generation M2 model is even better. It features an all-new chassis design that sheds the classic wedge shape of the old model and is even prettier than before. The display is bigger, too, measuring 13.6 inches in a 16:10 aspect ratio, and the webcam has finally been upgraded for the better, moving from the M1’s subdued 720p camera to a 1080p resolution.
However, the M2 CPU in its most recent MacBook Air is what really sets it different. This is not just a lot quicker than before, but it is also more efficient, meaning the battery life is increased. The M2 MacBook Air lasted an incredible 17 hours on my video playback test, which, in my words, “makes most Windows computers uncomfortable.”
The only caveat is that it’s more expensive than its predecessor, which might put some people off. Other than that, though, it’s nice to use and clearly the best laptop in its class.
2. Acer Swift 3: The best budget compact laptop
If you want a laptop with a good screen and good battery life that’s lightweight and affordable, look no further than the latest Acer Swift 3
It has a well-made aluminum case, weighs just 1.2kg, is small enough to fit in even a small backpack, and its 14-inch 1,920 x 1,080 panel is bright, sharp, and colorful. Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows has me completely enthralled and is an essential iPhone game for 2022
The Swift 3’s 11th-generation Intel Core i5 CPU may not be the latest, but it’s up to your task; there’s also a decent 8GB of RAM and a very fast 512 GB SSD for storage.
The ports are also good (2 USB-A, 1 Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, 1 HDMI 2.1), and the keyboard has a nice bright backlight. There’s also a fingerprint reader to add some biometric security to the mix.
With decent battery life — the Swift lasted an impressive 11.5 hours on our video rundown test — and fast charging, this is an excellent compact laptop at a very reasonable price. The only criticism we can make is that the RAM is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.
3. Dell XPS 13: The best Windows laptop
In order to stay up with Intel’s CPU advancements, Dell now updates its XPS laptops twice a year, with the most recent models offering Intel’s 11th-generation CPUs as an option. The late 2020 variant of the XPS 13 accomplishes almost everything well, much like earlier incarnations of the computer, from its superb build quality and color-accurate display to its excellent keyboard and features for the price.
As ever, there’s an XPS 13 for most budgets. You can choose from a variety of spec combinations, including an Intel Core i5-1135G7, Core i7-1165G7, or Core i7-1185G7 CPU, 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of RAM, and a 512GB or 1TB PCIe SSD.
With improved performance across the board, including longer battery life and a significantly faster graphics score, the Dell XPS 13 remains a Windows 10 ultraportable rival, though it trails the M1 MacBook Pro and Air laptops in terms of value for money.
4. Honor MagicBook 15: Best budget laptop
An extra display sometimes means a higher price, but the Honor MagicBook 15 bucks the trend, offering a generous 15.6-inch display for a fraction of the cost of its competitors.
The 8GB of RAM and effective AMD Ryzen 5 CPU in the MagicBook 15 make it simple to do daily chores. Although a 512GB SSD is a really excellent value for you, it’s frustrating that there isn’t an expandable model with quicker processing and more storage.

It might not be the absolute fastest laptop on this list, but if you’re looking for an efficient computer to handle your day-to-day life on the cheap, the MagicBook 15 is for you. It scored well in our internal CPU, battery life, and color accuracy tests, meaning it could also be a budget option for creative work.
The design must also be on par with the MagicBook 15. The keyboard’s 1.3mm actuation point means typing is satisfying and quiet, and the sleek metal body and matte finish look far more elegant than the price might suggest.
For connecting your peripherals, you get two USB-A ports (one 2.0 and one 3.2 Gen 1), a USB-C socket, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an HDMI-out port. This is great for those on a budget.
5. Huawei MateBook 16s: Best 16-inch laptop
Huawei’s 2022 update to the MateBook 16 brings several interesting new features, mainly 12th-gen Alder Lake CPUs for the Core i7 and Core i9, and a smart 1080p webcam.
The performance of the new 14-core Intel chip is impressive, with the MateBook 16s scoring 366 on our 4K multimedia benchmark, three times as fast as an 11th-gen Core i7 processor.
The most important feature of the MateBook 16s is undoubtedly its 3:2 ratio, 2,520 x 1,680, 189 dpi touch glossy display. It’s bright, sharp, vivid, and color-accurate, everything a great laptop display should be.
It only refreshes at 60Hz, but that’s not the same as the 90Hz panel on the MateBook 14s. The size and quality of the monitor make it ideal for creative and office work. The trick webcam has a virtual background feature as well as a feature called FollowCam that keeps your head in the middle of the screen, and Eye Contact that maintains eye contact when your eyes move away.
Huawei has a lot to like about the MateBook 16s thanks to its excellent keyboard, Intel Evo certification, and decent battery life.
6. Huawei MateBook 14s: Best value premium ultraportable
Huawei has a history of producing high-quality, great-value compact laptops, but it outdid itself this time around. The Huawei MateBook 14s is well built, performs great, and best of all, Huawei has finally removed the webcam from the keyboard and placed it where it makes more sense, at the top of the display.
Not only that, but the display has been upgraded to 90Hz, and coupled with the Intel Core i7-11370H CPU, it’s a formidable competitor to the M1 Apple MacBook Air.
At this price, with a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM, the MateBook 14s is an excellent laptop.
7. Microsoft Surface Pro 8: The best Windows 2-in-1 laptop
The Surface Pro has been the standard-bearer for 2-in-1 laptops since it was first designed. However, lately Microsoft has somewhat ignored it and just regularly upgrades the CPU, but rarely.
However, the Surface Pro 8 is the redesign Surface fans have been waiting for. It has a new chassis that’s sleeker than before, a new signature keyboard, and the Surface Slim Pen 2.
Of course, Microsoft also updated the internals to let customers choose between the Intel Core i5-1135G7 and the i7-1185G7. The core strengths still exist. The 3:2 touchscreen is excellent, and the keyboard and touchpad are a joy to use.
You still have to pay extra for the keyboard and more for the Surface Slip Pen 2, but that seems to be the way premium 2-in-1s are done these days.
If you can take it, this is the king of Windows 2-in-1 laptops, and it should be high on your shortlist.
8. Asus ROG Zephyrus Magic 14: The best compact gaming laptop
Powerful power often comes with a hefty heft—at least for high-end gaming laptops. That’s not the case with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, which stands out from the competition by delivering the same high performance as high-end gaming laptops in a more compact package. Weighing just 1.7kg, the G14 is as portable as a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Unusually, it’s powered by AMD components (both 6000-series parts) on both the CPU and GPU side, without compromising performance at all.
Combined with a stunning 120Hz QHD+ display, it’s both a AAA gaming laptop and a laptop for creative professional work. Even battery life isn’t bad.
If that wasn’t enough, the Asus ROG Zephyrus Magic 14 also features a beautiful “Anime Matrix LED” lid display that features hundreds of tiny customizable LEDs.
You can set it to display anything from text to your favorite game logo. For the money, they don’t get any stronger than that.
9. Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch 2021: Powerful laptop with long battery life
Apple’s M1 processor goes from strength to strength in the 2021 MacBook Pro lineup of laptops, and the 16-inch is simply the best all-around portable I’ve reviewed. It features the blazingly fast Apple M1 Pro processor, RAM ranging from 16GB to 64GB, and SSD capacities ranging from 512GB to 8TB. Please Don’t Forget to Clear Your iPhone Cache 2022
However, its 16.2-inch, 120Hz ProMotion Mini-LED display is the real star. With peak brightness of up to 1,600cd/m2, black response levels that are nearly as good as OLED screens, and optional professional-grade color calibration, it’s the best screen we’ve seen on a laptop.
Not only that, but Apple brought back the HDMI port and SD card slot for this version, and did away with the Touch Bar in favor of a full-sized row of function keys and a lovely big Escape key. If you’re a creative professional who needs serious computing power on the go, there’s no better laptop than this.
