Oppenheimer wins the 2024 Best Motion Picture – Drama Golden Globe. Oppenheimer may very well have been the big box office winner during the summer of 2023 had it not been for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. But director Christopher Nolan, the cast and crew all rejoyced when the historical drama was awarded with the Best Motion Picture – Drama — effectively dropping its own bomb on the bright-pink blockbuster at the 2024 ceremony. Oppenheimer and Gerwig’s Barbie dominated the summer of 2023. And the box office pairing gave birth to the now famous Barbenheimer phenomenon. Nolan’s gritty wartime film made an impressive $952 million globally. And it’s not a surprise the film did so well financially, as it registers a 93% on the Tomatometer and boasts an audience score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.
