While Ricky Gervais was hosting an award ceremony, the comedian couldn’t help himself but joke about Jennifer Lawrence. While talking about the equal pay that she demanded in Hollywood, the comedian joked (via YouTube) about the gender pay gap in Hollywood and how the nurses and factory workers took to the streets.

“Jennifer Lawrence made the news when she demanded equal pay for women in Hollywood. And she received, yeah, overwhelming support. There were marches on the street with nurses and factory workers saying ‘How the hell can a 25 year old live on $52 million.”

In a separate interview, the comedian-turned-actor talked about how the MCU isn’t cinema and agreed with Martin Scorsese’s statements. Stating that acting isn’t just about acting anymore but it’s actually about steroids.

In what seems to be a wild theory (which could be partially true) Ricky Gervais sided with Martin Scorsese’s statements about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stating that most of the actors have shifted to Netflix, Gervais stated in a Golden Globes Award ceremony that acting isn’t the same anymore.

“All the best actors have jumped to Netflix and HBO and the actors who just do Hollywood movies now, do fantasy-adventure nonsense. They wear masks and capes and really tight costumes. Their job isn’t acting anymore. It’s going to the gym twice a day and taking steroids.” 

With a plethora of roles to his name and a “don’t-care” attitude by his side, Gervais was last seen in the 2023 TV Special Ricky Gervais: Armageddon. The 2023 special is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
