Shroud Ruins Call of Duty Gamers Over The Finals Skill Gap

Back in December, gamers were both surprised and excited for a brand-new game that shadow dropped during The Game Awards, and that game is The Finals. During The Game Awards, a short trailer was released announcing that The Finals was available to download, and had launched that day. Now, after a month of its release, there are already gamers who are comparing it to Call of Duty.

In a recent live stream, a popular streamer named Shroud made a comment regarding the game and said it is too complicated for the Call of Duty community. Now this remark may not seem like much, but it has already created a divide as some players agree with him. However, there are some who have taken offense, and believe he is incorrect.

Why Has Shroud Compared the Two Fanbases?

When it comes to games, there will always be those who compare one title from a similar franchise to another. The Finals and Call of Duty are such games. Since both are first-person shooters, require a large amount of skill to become professional, and have rather large followings, it made sense that gamers would eventually compare them.

However, since The Finals has only just been released, and Call of Duty has been putting out games for decades, it is hardly a fair comparison. But what made Shroud’s comment stand out is the fact that he targeted the Call of Duty player base, as he stated that The Finals would be “too much for them.” He also inferred that players who are moving over from the long-running franchise would need time to adjust.

Sadly, this has caused a small ripple in the gaming community, as some gamers thing the two are more similar than others.

To be fair to both sides, they are equally right, as The Finals does share similar elements to Call of Duty, like gunplay and objectives. But it also requires players to choose specific classes that will be helpful to the mission, which turns each game into a completely fresh experience.

Even though Shroud has said this as a simple pass-by comment, it has already caused a lot of debates within the gaming community. It is now to the point where some gamers are saying that even though The Finals is still rather new, it is still as impactful and fun because it isn’t just a generic first-person shooter like Call of Duty.

How Will This Affect People’s Opinions of The Finals, and Will It Discourage Them From Playing?

For obvious reasons, when a gamer hears a common phrase like this, it will most likely discourage them from playing the title. Hearing your favorite streamer say Call of Duty players wouldn’t be able to wrap their minds around the gameplay of The Finals, is likely to turn some people off from the game.

For now, The Finals is still a rather new title that will have a rather large learning curve, since there are plenty of classes to try. And player may not be able to try them all, especially when more classes and weapons are brought into the game in future updates.

It may be a big challenge for The Finals to eventually reach the heights Call of Duty has; however, with the support of the community, there is potential for growth that could bring a whole new generation into the first-person shooter franchise.

Because of this, many gamers will most likely ignore The Finals and stick with Call of Duty, whether it is good or not. Unfortunately, this might lead to a lot of players missing out on two fantastic games that may require a lot of skill, but can easily be understood with enough time contributed to them.
