Take-Two CEO Couldn’t Care Less About GTA 6 Trailer Leaking Before Time as It Still “Broke the Internet”

It has been more than a decade since the last mainline Grand Theft Auto game was released, so fans had been waiting a long time for official GTA 6 updates. Although it goes without saying that Rockstar Games probably had a marketing strategy to reveal the next GTA to the world, its plans were destroyed multiple times because of numerous leaks.

To take matters into its own hands, Rockstar shared the release date and time for the GTA 6 trailer through a post on X that took the gaming world by storm.

Sadly, even that didn’t work out, as the GTA 6 trailer was leaked hours before it was supposed to be revealed, but it seems like the CEO of publisher Take-Two is not too fazed by the fact, especially because it worked in Rockstar Games’ favor one way or another.

The GTA 6 Trailer Leak May Have Been “Disappointing,” But That Does Not Matter Anymore to the Take-Two CEO

During a conversation with IGN about the GTA 6 trailer, the Take-Two CEO mentioned that it leaking before time was quite “disappointing,” but it does not seem to be something that affects him too much. Strauss Zelnick continued by saying that despite its unfortunate leak earlier than originally planned, it did not exactly “hurt” Rockstar Games or the publisher.

This is because GTA 6 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated video games of all time, so a mere trailer leak would not have mattered much, and it had been through more than enough leaks before the biggest one, which might have mentally prepared the development team to be ready for anything of the sort.

GTA 6 went through plenty of major leaks before its trailer launched, which included the reveal of the dual protagonists of the game, among other aspects like its setting and map size. If all of those combined could not affect Rockstar Games, what is one more trailer leaking? The impact of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is undeniably unmatched, and it emerged stronger than ever on the other side.

Zelnick Believes That the GTA 6 Trailer “Broke the Internet” Despite the Leaks

Rockstar Games “broke the internet” multiple times with two specific updates about GTA 6.

One of them was when it announced the date and time for the first trailer of the game, and Zelnick acknowledges the fact that it truly “is amazing when the trailer announcement is huge news.”

Then came Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 1, and it took over the internet once again, so the team at Take-Two is quite happy and excited about how things inevitably turned out.

The first trailer for GTA 6 currently has more than 174 million views on YouTube with north of 11 million likes, which should be enough indication of the level of impact that a 90-second clip is capable of.
