This year’s Taoranting Ice and Snow Carnival cover an area of 38,500 square meters, a full expansion of 14,500 square meters compared to last year’s 24,000 square meters. According to Zhao Shuangle from the Taoranting Park Management and Operation Section, the site planning for this year’s Ice and Snow Carnival is different from the previous ones.

The ski slope project of the East Lake in previous years was canceled and replaced by a science popularization area, small slides, and a variety of free play areas. In addition to the “Ice Maze” area of Nanhu Lake, the entertainment area of Donghu Lake is also developed for free, including children’s swings, children’s boats, children’s tours, and other projects. Due to the cancellation of the ski slope project in East Lake, the area for playing with snow has greatly increased. Children can take a shovel and mold and build a “snow castle” to their heart’s content.

The park also retains classic items such as snow flying saucers, small snow tanks, snow banana boats, and snow zorb balls. The snow mountain in the Nanhu area is 6 meters high, and there are 20 ski trails in total. The feeling of “flying” from a high place is very exciting. Younger children can choose the 3-meter-high snow flying saucer in the East Lake area, and experience the feeling of flying down the gentle slope. Visitors can also experience speed and passion on the ice slide, which has a height of 4 meters and a slope length of 20 meters.

Penguins, the most popular among tourists, also “set up camp” in the East Lake area this year. This venue not only enriches the viewing angles of penguins but also specially creates a snow-capped mountain landscape and expands the penguin activity area so that everyone can check in and take pictures.
The reporter saw that the “configuration” of penguins in Taoranting Park this year is the same as last year, including 2 chinstrap penguins, 2 king penguins, and 2 gentoo penguins. The largest king penguin is a bit “tsundere” and indeed has a “royal demeanor.” The other 4 little penguins are very lively and full of camera sensors. Whenever tourists point their mobile phones at them, they will either flap their short wings and sway or play with their white bellies in the snow. The appearance makes tourists can’t help but smile.

This year’s Ice and Snow Carnival also set up cultural and creative stores and commercial facilities, as well as a tourist service center and a mother and baby room. The tourist service center provides consulting services and park guide map services, and tourists who are tired from playing can also rest here.
