Ivory Coast have now defeated defending champions Senegal in the Round of 16 via penalties. They won the penalties 5-4 after the scoreline at the end of regulation time read 1-1.

After the apex body of football in Africa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned Tanzania coach Adel Amrouche for 8 games and a heavy fine, the Tanzania football team decided to axe Amrouche after just 1 match had elapsed in their AFCON 2023 campaign.

Amrouche was slapped with a ban by CAF after his controversial remarks on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The 55-year-old Algerian football manager has previously managed Kenya, Botswana, Yemen and Libya among several other teams.
