The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Player Auction will take place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13, 2023, and 409 cricketers will be auctioned off in total.
Mumbai will host the WPL’s debut season from March 4 to March 26. The main competition will be held at the Brabourne Stadium and D.Y. Patil Stadium, where a total of 22 games will be contested.
The Jio Convention Center in Mumbai will host the auction, according to the BCCI. The bidding war between the five teams, which will start at 2:30 PM IST, will be fought over who can put their squads in the best possible position to win the inaugural competition.
A total of 1525 players signed up for the inaugural auction, however, only 409 have been chosen to participate. Of these, 163 are foreign players, eight of whom are from associate nations, and 246 are Indian athletes.
In contrast to the 5 CSK’s Players Who Can Explode This Season (IPL), teams in the WPL can feature five foreign players in their starting XI, but one of them must be from an associate nation.
90 players out of the 409 will be auctioned. Out of the 60 Indians and 30 foreign players that the five teams must collectively buy, each team will be permitted to purchase a maximum of 12 Indians and six foreign players. 202 players with caps are up for grabs in the auction, leaving 199 players with no caps.
